Creating MoBoo has been a dream of mine for years. In the mid-2000s, while working on professional tools at CLCD, I often explained to friends, "We help professionals find great books for kids because we know a lot about books." This sparked interest, especially among moms, who would ask, "Do you have something for parents?" Unfortunately, the answer was always no.
As a parent and a software development manager, the idea of building something for families never left me. In 2009, I started working on a concept called eKitab, meaning "book" in Farsi. The goal was simple: help kids discover books that matched their interests and reading level to inspire a love for reading. While eKitab laid the foundation, MoBoo has grown into something even more powerful.
Along the way, my passion for travel and collaboration played a role. Exploring public transit in new cities with my family taught me the importance of experiencing things from the ground up—something I carried into MoBoo's design. Partnering with Kranthi Gajjala, a like-minded developer, strengthened this vision.
In 2011, after acquisition of CLCD, all the pieces for MoBoo began to come together. Leveraging CLCD’s expertise and team, we bootstrapped MoBoo’s development, refining it year by year. Early feedback in 2018 and 2022 helped us reshape the product, and despite delays caused by the pandemic, we stayed committed to delivering a solution families could rely on.
Now, MoBoo is ready. After years of passion, persistence, and improvement, I’m thrilled to tell parents, “We can help YOU help your children discover the joy of reading.”
